Brattleboro Area Drop In Center

A Place of Welcome, Warmth, and Peace

Mission

The Brattleboro Area Drop In Center, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation. A day shelter open to all persons within the Brattleboro area. We offer a welcoming atmosphere, community food shelf, support services, and a place where homeless and lonely persons can come.

The Brattleboro Area Drop In Center, Inc. which opened in May, 1988 is the result of an initial grant provided by the United Methodist Church, Board of Global Ministries, and Department of Health and Welfare.

The need is year round.

Through the assistance of churches, organizations, and persons within our community, Brattleboro Area Drop In Center is supported to serve the lonely, homeless, and needy. We also receive additional funding from the Vermont Department of Mental Health, Towns, Federal Homeless Assistance Funds, and the United Way of Windham County.

Project Feed the Thousands was started in 1994 by Larry Smith of Entergy Nuclear-Vermont Yankee and George Haynes of Brattleboro Savings & Loan. Project Feed the Thousands has evolved into the area's biggest food drive. The Brattleboro Area Drop In Center distributes the items year round to thousands of people in Brattleboro and 51 surrounding towns.
